- Should I consider doing it myself?
With the price of fossil fuels continually rising and the concern that burning of fossil
fuels is contributing to global warming, the search for renewable and clean sources of energy has never been more
important. The use of solar energy for heating and electricity production is one such renewable energy source that
has come to the forefront.
The use of residential solar power for electricity production and water or space
heating provides the homeowner a unique opportunity to get directly involved in reducing their carbon
footprint while at the same time saving money on electricity and heating costs.
Some applications of solar energy are just more practical. A good example would be solar
landscape lighting. It is much easier to stick a couple of solar lights into the ground, then it is to run wires
all over your backyard as one would have to do with traditional landscape lights.
Another good example is the use of solar energy to power our modern gadgets in remote
locations. Portable solar panels can provide electricity for our ipods, gps, cameras and other gadgets while
we are camping. Rv solar panels can be used as a welcome replacement to gas generators. If you are adventurous, you
could even use a solar oven to cook your dinner.
Solar hot water can also be used to heat our swimming pools and provide hot water for
residential use. The use of solar power to heat water or air is one of the most efficient uses of solar energy and
can potentially reduce your energy costs, even without government grants or incentives.
As with any new or emerging technology, using solar energy requires some research and
planning in order to ensure a successful implementation. ResidentSolar is here to help you!
